Reflection:
Working on a personal profile article was a really good experience for me as both a writer and editor. As a writer, I learned how important it is to tell someone’s story in a clear, fair, and interesting way.
Interviewing was a big part of this process. At first, it was a little difficult to come up with good questions and make the person feel comfortable. But once the conversation got going, it felt more natural. I learned how to ask followup questions and look for quotes that showed who the person really is, and their story.
When I wrote this article, I worked hard to keep it organized, making sure each part connected well. I also made sure to include enough background so readers could understand why this person’s story mattered.
As an editor, I went back to check for mistakes, unclear parts, and places where I could improve the flow. I made sure everything was fair and accurate since I was sharing someone else’s story.
Writing this article also gave me more confidence to think critically about the information I was getting. I became more aware of how each detail can help build a narrative. I also learned how important it is to respect the subject’s voice and perspective while presenting their story in a way that resonates with the reader.
Another key lesson I took from this experience was the importance of editing. Sometimes, after working on a piece for so long, it’s hard to spot a mistake or see where improvements can be made. I realized how valuable it is to take a step back and have a second pair of eyes take a look.
Overall, writing a personal profile article helped me improve my interviewing, writing, and editing skills. It taught me to focus on people, listen closely, and tell meaningful stories in a simple and transparent way
